Credit Europe Bank sponsors International Waterpolo Tournament

The Dutch Bank, Credit Europe Bank, through its Malta branch located in Sliema, recently sponsored the annual International Water Polo Tournament, organized by San Giljan ASC in conjunction with St. Julian’s Local Council and the KMS. This event brought together teams from the Netherlands, Malta and England (the English club, the Penguins, have been visiting Malta regularly since 1967).

The Credit Europe Bank Waterpolo Tournament was organized for both male and female categories. The ladies tournament – the only one held in Malta - was won by the Dutch team De Gouwe, with the local side San Giljan ASC finishing as runners-up. The male competition was won by San Giljan Tropicana Juices with the Dutch side Harlem finishing second. The tournament was played in a spirit of good sportsmanship and the event came to a close on Wednesday 16 July with a prize-giving ceremony at the St. Julian ASC club.

Present at the ceremony with the Mayor of St.Julian’s was Credit Europe Bank’s  Country Manager, Ms. Zeyno de Vries-Davutoglu, who expressed her satisfaction at the Bank’s involvement in the event: 
 "We are always interested in supporting sporting events, especially in this case, where women were given the chance to compete internationally. Also the fact that we are a Dutch bank operating in Malta and that there were Dutch teams participating in the competition was an added incentive to sponsor the tournament."
