Murat Basbay appointed as CEO of Credit Europe Bank NV

The Supervisory Board of Credit Europe Bank NV is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Murat Basbay as Chief Executive Officer. He will succeed Mr. Turhan Cemal Beriker who has been CEO for 9 years, and after a transitional period to hand over his duties during the summer, will assume a senior level position in the financial services sector of the Fiba Group, the controlling shareholder of Credit Europe Bank NV.

Since 2005, Murat Basbay has been the President of Credit Europe Bank Ltd. in Russia, the largest of 5 banking subsidiaries of Credit Europe Bank NV. Mr. Haluk Aydinoglu, who is currently heading the retail division of the Russian bank, will replace Mr. Basbay in Russia.

Murat Basbay, aged 41, started his career with Arthur Andersen before joining Credit Europe Bank. In 1997 he was a member of the founding team of the subsidiary in Russia. In 1999 he joined the management team of Credit Europe Bank NV and he took an active role in the expansion of the bank as CFO and member of the Managing Board. In 2005 he returned to Russia to take the position as President of Credit Europe Bank Ltd in Russia. Under his leadership, the Russian subsidiary has grown substantially, remained stable and profitable in difficult market circumstances, and now serves over 2 million customers from over 90 branches and thousands of sales points throughout the Russian Federation.
