1. How can I apply for a
Credit Europe Top-Interest Savings Account & a fixed-term Time Deposit
Account?
Please call us on +356 2260 2000. We will then contact you to set up an appointment for you to visit our Branch at 143/2, Tower Road, Sliema, SLM 1604 at your convenience to conclude the opening of the account. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, between 09:00 hrs - 12:00hrs and 14:00hrs - 16:00 hrs. You will be requested to bring with you a valid Identity document (such as I.D. card, passport or driving licence) and; documentary evidence of your current or savings account held at another local bank (such as a recent bank statement). This is called the counter account.
Once you have opened a Credit Europe Top-Interest Savings Account you may also opt to benefit from the high interest rates on our fixed-term Time Deposit Accounts. Simply fill in an application form, which can be downloaded from our website or call us on +356 2260 2000. Funds are transferred to/from Time Deposits via your Top-Interest Savings Account.

2. Who can open a Credit
Europe Top-Interest Savings Account?
Maltese nationals and
non-Maltese nationals residing in Malta; associations; non-profit-making
organizations; partnerships and limited liability companies registered in Malta
can open an account at Credit Europe Bank N.V. Malta Branch.

3. Can I open a joint account/Term
Deposit?
Yes, a
Top-Interest Savings Account or Term Deposit Account can be held jointly, with
either one or both parties permitted to sign to operate the account. Back to top
4. Can I open an account for a
minor?
In the case
of a minor, a savings account or Term Deposit Account can be opened in his/her
name. The parents/legal guardian(s) must sign the opening of account form and
provide an authenticated/official copy of the birth certificate of the
minor. They will manage the account on the minor's behalf until he/she
reaches age 16.

5. What is a counter-account?
In order to open a
Credit Europe Top-Interest Savings Account, you are required to have a current
and/or savings account with another bank in Malta. This account, known as the
counter-account, has to be in the name of the Credit Europe Top-Interest Savings
Account holder. In the case of a joint account, the counter account can be in
the name of one of the account holders or both. When you make a withdrawal from
your Top-Interest Savings Account, the funds will be transferred to your
counter-account.

6. How
can I deposit money into my Credit Europe Top-Interest Savings
Account?
Although we do not handle cash, you can deposit money into your Top-Interest Savings Account by transferring money from another bank.

7. How can I transfer money to my
counter-account?
You can give instructions to transfer funds from your Credit Europe Top-Interest Account to your counter account by using our internet banking service, by calling us on +356 2260 2000, in writing, by fax or scanned through email (if a fax / email indemnity is in place). Normal transfer orders are handled without a charge. A fee of Eur 8.00 may be charged for urgent transfer orders. A transfer order received after the cut-off time of 15.00 hrs will be deemed to have been received on the following business day.

8. When is the interest
paid?
Interest on the
Credit Europe Top-Interest Savings Account is calculated daily and paid on a
yearly basis on 31st December. When a Top-Interest Savings Account is
closed the interest paid is the accrued amount up to the day of the closure of
the account. For Credit Europe Time Deposits with a term of 12 months or
less the interest is paid upon maturity date. For Term Deposits of more
than 12 months maturity, interest is paid annually.

9. How are my balances
guaranteed?
Credit Europe Bank N.V is a Dutch bank with its head office in Amsterdam. Consequently, the bank is subject to the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme which is being operated by the Dutch Central Bank. Your savings at Credit Europe Bank N.V. are 100% guaranteed for balances up to € 100,000 per person. This is based on information from the Dutch Ministry of Finance on 10th March 2009. Credit Europe Bank N.V. is licensed by the Dutch Central Bank, which regulates its banking activities on a consolidated basis in and outside the Netherlands. 10. Why have the interest rates of CEB been repeatedly reduced within a short time during 2009?
During the past months the prime rate set by the European Central Bank has been decreased several times. As Credit Europe Bank follows the ECB rate the CEB interest rates have been adjusted accordingly.
